How to Enable WHOIS Data Protection for a Domain

How to Enable WHOIS Data Protection for a Domain

Protect your personal domain contact details from public WHOIS lookups and reduce spam, unwanted contact, and privacy risks.

WHOIS Data Protection helps keep your domain contact details private by preventing them from being publicly visible in the WHOIS database. This helps reduce the risk of spam, unwanted contact, and misuse of your personal information by third parties.

Important: WHOIS Data Protection is not available for all domain extensions. Availability depends on the domain type (TLD). For some domains, privacy protection is already included by default, so the option may not appear separately in your Client Area. This feature may also appear as ID Protection.

How to Order WHOIS Data Protection for a New Domain

If WHOIS Data Protection is available for the domain you are registering, you can add it during the registration process.

  1. Start the registration of your new domain.
  2. Continue to the Domain Configuration step.
  3. Look for the option labeled WHOIS Data Hide or ID Protection.
  4. Tick the checkbox to enable the service.
  5. Complete your order as normal.

How to Order WHOIS Data Protection for an Existing Domain

If your domain is already registered with us and supports WHOIS Data Protection, you can enable it from your Client Area by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Client Area.
  2. Open the Domains section from the side menu, or click the Domain tile on your dashboard.
  3. Find the domain you want to protect and click Manage Domain (wrench icon).
  4. Open the Addons tab on the domain management page.
  5. Locate the ID Protection addon and click Buy Now.
  6. On the next page, click the green order button showing the annual price.
  7. Review the order details and confirm your purchase.
  8. Choose your preferred payment method and complete the payment.

How to Check if WHOIS Data Protection Is Active

Once the payment has been completed and the addon has been activated, you can verify its status from your domain details page.

  1. Return to the domain details page in your Client Area.
  2. Look for the WHOIS Data Hiding or ID Protection section.
  3. If the protection is active, you will see a confirmation message showing that the service has been enabled.
Tip: When the service is already active, you may also be able to disable it from the same section, depending on the domain extension and registrar settings.
Note: If you cannot see the WHOIS Data Protection option for your domain, this usually means that the domain extension does not support it, or that privacy protection is already included by default.
