How to Add a Subdomain to Your cPanel Hosting Account

How to Add a Subdomain to Your Hosting Account

Create a subdomain in cPanel to organize different sections of your website, such as blog.yourdomain.com or shop.yourdomain.com.

A subdomain is an additional part of your main domain name that allows you to create a separate section of your website. For example, if your main domain is example.com, you can create a subdomain such as subdomain.example.com.

You can add a subdomain through your hosting control panel, usually from cPanel.

Important: Before creating a subdomain, make sure your domain is already added to your hosting account and is correctly pointing to your hosting service.

How to Add a Subdomain in cPanel

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. In the Domains section, click Subdomains.
  3. In the Create a Subdomain form, enter the required details:
  • Subdomain: Enter the name you want to use for your subdomain.
  • Domain: Select the main domain under which you want to create the subdomain.
  • Note: This field may not appear if only one domain is assigned to your hosting account.
  • Document Root: This is the folder on your hosting account where the subdomain files will be stored. In most cases, it is generated automatically.
  1. Click Create to finish adding the subdomain.
Tip: After creating the subdomain, you can upload your website files to its document root folder using File Manager or FTP.
Note: In some hosting environments, the subdomain may take a short time to become fully active due to DNS or server configuration updates.
